This is the official trailer of 'Curse of Chucky.' It is a horror movie that appeals to males as well as females, the reason it appeals to females is due to the good guy doll - Chucky. Females tend to find him cute and cuddly, whereas males just watch it for the horror and suspense. The storyline appeals to many different audiences as this film is about a man - Charles Lee Ray who transfers his soul into the good guy doll Chucky and continuously searches for a new human body for his soul to live in.

This is the official trailer of 'Fast and Furious 6.' It is an action based film filled with crime and deviant behaviour, therefore appeals to the male audience. This film can also appeal to the female audience due to the actors - Paul Walker, Vin Diesel and former rapper Ludacris. Fast and Furious 6 also known as Fast6 follows a professional criminal gang led by Vin Diesel who have retired after their successful heist in Fast5 but remain as wanted fugitives, Dwayne Johnson then offers to clear the group's criminal records in exchange for help to take down a mercenary group. 

Holiday Task - The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby 

The Great Gatsby is an Australian-American 3D drama film about a midwestern war veteran - Nick who moves to New York to chase his own American Dream but finds himself drawn to the past and captivating lifestyle  of his millionaire neighbour - Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio), his cousin sister - Daisy and her husband - Tom Buchanan as well as being drawn into the world of their illusions, loves and deceits. This is when Nick witnesses, within and without of the world he inhabits. Throughout the film he writes a tale of impossible love, incorrupitble dreams and tragedy which holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.  
This film has been set in the "Roaring Twenties" - 1920 a time where there was economic prosperity.

Character Analysis:

Nick-

<-- Nick is a midwestern war veteran who is staying in a sanatorium in 1929 to treat his alcoholism. His doctor convinces him to write a novel on his experience and view point of Gatsby's life - how he only saw the good in him, how he lived, threw parties, waited for Daisy and how Gatsby's and Daisy's and Tom's lies got Gatsby killed.













Daisy-

<-- Daisy is portrayed to be a beautiful young woman who in the end reveals to be a selfish, shallow and hurtful woman. But Gatsby still thinks she was the same woman that he left before he went to war therefore he is blinded by his dream. But it is her final actions that really show us what type of woman she is. When she kills Mrytle and leaves the scene, she portrays no sign of conscience - she isnt as pure as she was portrayed to be.











Tom-

<-- Tom is a powerful and wealthy man who is married to Daisy yet is having an affair with Mrytle. He is portrayed to be a arrogant bully who demands from those around him. He makes it look as if him going behind his wife's back is normal, but when he finds out about Gatsby and Daisy he goes ballistic.













Jay Gatsby- (Protagonist)

<-- Gatsby is established to be a mysterious and wealthy man who throws parties every saturday night in hope of Daisy's attendance. But as the film goes on Nick learns that Gatsby was born in a farm in North Dakota - working for a millionaire made him dedicate his life to achieving wealth no matter what. Nick also learns that although he was earning money the wrong way, he would do anything to gain the social position he thought was necessary to win Daisy.

Weird Science 

Weird Science is an American comedy, sci-fi teen film which contains two unpopular nerdy teens who turn out to be the protagonists of the film. Their desperation to be popular leads them to create a woman by using their computer. Their living creation turns is a beautiful woman called Lisa whos purpose turns out to be to boost their confidence.

Stereotypes portrayed in Weird Science - 

The hot popular girl 'Lisa'. The type of character that is portrayed in nearly every teen film - the reason why many boys and girls watch teen films, boys - they find her 'hot' and girls -  a role model, someone to 'look up to'    

The two geeky UNpopular boys who have no friends and who wish to be popular and would do anything to be popular

The two popular boys often portrayed in teen films as 'sporty' and 'jocks'. They always get the 'hot' and 'popular' girls and are always portrayed as the 'bullies'

Individual Task - Genre And Sub Genre Task

Teen films is a film genre targeted at teenagers and young adults in which the plot is based upon the special interests of teenagers, such as coming of age, first love, rebellion, conflict with parents, teen angst or alienation. Often these normally serious subject matters are presented in a glossy, stereotyped or trivialized way. Some teen films appeal to young males while others appeal to young females. Films in this genre are often set in high schools, or contain characters that are of high school age. Sexual themes are also common, as are crude forms of humour.

 

Individual Task - Audience Task 2

This is 'Hannah Montana: The Movie Trailer' The audience for this film are young teenage girls as it has a narrative of a young teenage girl living the best of both worlds, one as a famous teen popstar and the other as your normal ordinary teenage girl. This attracts young teenage girls becuase they relate to it by age and gain an interest because Hannah might do things that girls dream of. Also it can attract young teenage boys becuase they might like the film becuase of the genres of the film which are Comedy, Romance, Drama and Family... The boy's would be interested in the comedy whereas the girls in the romance, drama and family. Also there is a box office draw of Miley Cyrus a worldwide famous teen popstar and actress. 

This is 'Bend It Like Beckham: The Movie Trailer' The audience for this film is a mixture of both genders male and female due to the fact of the narrative and genres of the film. The narrative is about a young asian girl who is passionate about football and wants to play it for the rest of her life however being asian it is wrong in her ethnic background to do such a thing so she rebels against her parents. The genres of the film are Comedy, Drama and Romance. The way it appeals to males is the fact that it involved football and most boys love football and the way it appeals to females is that the protagonist is a female and some females may relate to the narrative. Males are appealed by the genre of comedy and females are appealed by the genre of romance and drama. This also appeals to peeople with an asian ethnic background as well becuase of the fact that the family in the film are asian.

This is 'Avengers Assemble: The Movie Trailer' The audience for this film is both predominantly males and the reason for this is becuase of the genres, narrative and box office draw. The genres of this film are Action, Fantasy and Comedy... the three most loved genres of males. This film is action packed and filled with laughter as well as scenes of fantasy. Males absolutely love this film and love the characters of Marvel. Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. assembles a team of superhumans to save the planet from Loki and his army. This film is a link of all the other Marvel films but put togther, the superhumans are acted by a spectacular box office draw consisting of people such as Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg, Cobie Smulders, Samuel L. Jackson and Gwyneth Paltrow. All very famous actors who draw in a very large audience consisting of mostly males and a minority of females.

Wizards of Waverly Place the Movie Official Trailer

This film is based on a family who have powerful magic, Alex spells trouble for the Russo's. The kids must go on an adventure to save their family and their existence. I have watched it myself and can tell that this is a typical teenage movie, the fact that it is a Disney film and was broadcasted on Disney proves this. The type of audience it would appeal to are young teenagers and children near enough to their teen years. The film stars: Selena Gomez, David Henrie, Jake T. Austin and Jennifer Stone. Overall I would rate the film 2/5 stars and would not watch it again.

Storyline's And Plots In Teen Drama - Attack The Block

The storyline set up in my intro is a woman on the phone walking on the street, suddenly a gang approaches her and robs her, boy pulls a knife on her and then something falls on a car from the sky, later on we find out its an alien. The alien jumps out of the car and attacks the gang and runs off. The gang chases the alien and kills it. 

The binary oppositions set up in the film intro are : the woman versus the gang, the gang versus the alien and then black members of the gang versus the white members of the gang.

Mise en scene:

The women is dressed formally and is wearing colourful  clothing, whereas the gang members are dressed informally and are wearing black hoodies; this shows the difference between maturity within age.

Editing:

Sound-bridge is used to show the comparisons of the two different areas. One is shown to be as posh and the other as run-down 'poor'. The binary opposition is that the setting shows the different links between the characters.

 

Sound:

The woman speaks with a formal accent, whereas the gang members use colloquial language. This shows the difference between the characters, and that the woman is more educated than the gang members, in addition throughout the conversation the black gang member has a aggressive and rude tone to his language.

Camera:

The woman is shown in a high angle whilst she's on the floor, and the gang member's are shown in a low angle. This is used to reinforce the weakness that is portrayed through the woman and the dominance through the gang member's.

What is a teen film ?

A teen is a film genre which is which is for a target audience of teenagers and young adults. The plot is made to suit the interests of teenagers such as coming of age, first love, rebellion, conflict with parents, relationships with peers, bullying and etc.

Who is the film based for?

Usually the film is based for the teenage group which is known as between 13-19. This is because it links and reinforces the ever-day life a teenager might go through (except magic and wizardry). On the other hand, some audiences seem to appear being in the audience who are interested in the teen films, this doesn't make them childish however it may be due to the fact that its nostalgic and its a way of reminiscing their teenage era.

Sub Genres  

The sub-genres of a teen film is: comedy, romantic/love story, teen sci-fi, horror, teen drama, teen musicals, adventure, sports films or athleticism, romantic comedy and fantasy/ wizardry. 

Themes

 The conventional themes include love, competition, romance, bullying, conflicts, family problems and abuse.

Settings

Teen films are usually set in a school and the outstanding locations would be classrooms, toilets, playgrounds or canteens. Another major setting in a teen film is homes which includes the bedroom, kitchen, living room or the garden often in a house party. other locations would be restaurants, football grounds, basketball grounds or alleyways. 

Twilight Trailer - Individual Work

Twilight is a vampire-themed fantasy romance. This main audience for this film are females with-in the age 13-19. It relates to females because with-in the film the main character, Bella gets attracted to Edward Cullen. Romance is a genre that girls are more interested which is the reason why I said the audience for Twilight are females.

American Pie - Individual Work

American Pie is a comedy and romantic film. The movie has quite a young audience, mainly male teenagers in the age bracket of 16-19. Its aimed at young people because it involves characters who are at school and shows what college/school students get up to. It also appeals to adults due to the content but the main audience as I said was young people. Furthermore, American Pie shows us the experiences teenagers normally go through.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Trailer- individual work

Harry Potter is series of 7 fantasy novels which started of as being a film which may interest children more because it involved magic and wizard however, as the interest grew from a wide range of age groups the characters in the film started appearing as teenagers or 'young adults' which then afterwards made the film a more teenager film or audience within the age group between 12-21 so it wasn't too childish but not too complex for the young people as well.

Sket trailer- individual work

This film is targeted to an audience between the age group of  14-19. Although it involves lots of action, knife crime and drug use which may be a male stereotyped, the main characters involve females and it does have some few emotional scenes as well, so it may appeal to female teenagers as well.

Anuvahood Trailer- individual work

The movie 'Anuvahood'  seems to be targeted at teenage  boys mainly as it reflects the life of a teenage male who wants to be rapper and be seen as a gangster. its genre is an urban comedy film which is from the producers of the film 'Kidulthood' and 'Adulthood' which found the interest of many teenage audiences because it demonstrates the current stereotype of young people being involved in gangs and knife crime.

Adulthood Trailer - Individual Trailer

The audience for Adulthood are teenagers ranging from the age 13-19. This film appeals to people with-in this age because teenagers, especially males, in London are stereotyped negatively and this film links to the stereotype they are given. The storyline can appeal to male teens who are going through hard times because in Adulthood the characters are not having the flashiest of lives.

Mean Girls Trailer - Individual Task

This movie mostly appeals to females, but may be appealing to males due to certain characters such as Lindsey Lohan. This storyline may appeal to certain teens as it portrays how everyday life is for girls in high school in America. 

300 Opening Sequence

We think that at the beginning of the opening sequence you should have the title of the film, related images to the narrative of the film, background music that relates to the images and realistic images and not fictional. Furthermore an introduction to the characters of the film and their names.
