Genre and Sub Genre Task

What is a teen film ?

A teen is a film genre which is which is for a target audience of teenagers and young adults. The plot is made to suit the interests of teenagers such as coming of age, first love, rebellion, conflict with parents, relationships with peers, bullying and etc.

Who is the film based for?

Usually the film is based for the teenage group which is known as between 13-19. This is because it links and reinforces the ever-day life a teenager might go through (except magic and wizardry). On the other hand, some audiences seem to appear being in the audience who are interested in the teen films, this doesn't make them childish however it may be due to the fact that its nostalgic and its a way of reminiscing their teenage era.

Sub Genres  

The sub-genres of a teen film is: comedy, romantic/love story, teen sci-fi, horror, teen drama, teen musicals, adventure, sports films or athleticism, romantic comedy and fantasy/ wizardry. 

Themes

 The conventional themes include love, competition, romance, bullying, conflicts, family problems and abuse.

Settings

Teen films are usually set in a school and the outstanding locations would be classrooms, toilets, playgrounds or canteens. Another major setting in a teen film is homes which includes the bedroom, kitchen, living room or the garden often in a house party. other locations would be restaurants, football grounds, basketball grounds or alleyways.
