What is a teen film?
A teen film is a type of genre mainly aimed at teenagers and young adults. The story is based on the interests of teenagers such as love, rebellion, and social inclusion/exclusion. Most of the time these subjects are shown in a stereotypical kind of way for example 'the popular jock who is captain of the basketball team.' Many teen films appeal to females as it is set in a high school setting and also these films may relate to what females go through on a day to day basis.
Most of the time sub genres overlap with film genres, the sub genres that are common in teen films are : Super-Heroes, Romance, Sports and Action. These sub genres make it easier to divide film genres into their own categories.
